Good morning, everybody! I hope you’re having a lovely December thus far! Today I’m wearing a jacket for the first time this season, and I’m so exited that it’s actually feeling like Fall (although it’s nearly Winter already)! That’s Southern weather for ya.
So, anyway. Since it IS finally chilly out there, and Christmas is in the air and all seems so freshly beautiful and bright this time of yea, that means it’s also time for… hot cocoa!! On of my favorite treats during the holidays. Who doesn’t enjoy a hot cup of yummy while snuggled up on the couch with your loved ones and watching a feel-good, happy movie, right?
So here’s the simplest recipe and it only takes a jiffy to whip up, and then only five to ten minutes to heat!
What’s you’ll need:
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- First, combine cocoa and sugar till mixed thoroughly. This will make it a bit easier to make the cocoa mix with the milk, since it tends to float on top when it’s dry.
- Next, add water, milk, salt, and vanilla. Whisk till well combined.
- Simmer on medium heat until warm or hot –however you like it– but do not bring to a boil.
- Pour into mugs and serve by itself or with marshmallows on top. Makes 4 large servings (or 5 cups).
Enjoy your Wintry day!
